Anyone that works with or near or if they use, store, handle or manufactured controlled products at a worksite within Canada requires WHMIS training.

This may include any type of material that is:

• A compressed gas

• A flammable or combustible material

• An oxidizers; poisonous and infectious material

• A corrosive and dangerously reactive material

Training activities may include:

• The purpose and history behind W.H.M.I.S. in Canada

• Supplier and workplace labels

• Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and the purpose and significance of this information

• Procedures for safely storing, using and handling controlled products

• Safety procedures dealing with fugitive emissions

• Respond safely to an emergency involving a controlled substance

• The six W.H.M.I.S. classification groups

• Determine if the training is adequate
