  • Locate, Review, and Comprehend the applicable sections of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code (2009) including definitions used in rigging
  • Assess the hazards associated with a rigging job and determine the appropriate controls(Part 2) (Part 7)
  • Determine the weight of a load using six different methods including calculations (Part 6)
  • Establish the tension on each sling leg
  • Comprehend the effect of sling angle on the load
  • Determine the centre of balance of the load
  • Verify the safe work load capacity for rigging equipment (Part 6)
  • Select the proper rigging equipment (Part 6)
  • Inspect the rigging equipment and compare it to the inspection and rejection criteria in (Part 21) of the code
  • Communicate using industry accepted hand signals. Section 71, Section 191
  • Maintain limits of approach to overhead lines and to electrical equipment.
