Front End Loader

Level I - Theory

4 Hours
  • Read and comprehend all applicable information contained within the manufacture’s operator manual
  • Read and comprehend the information contained within this manual and any handouts, videos and support materials
  • Locate, read and comprehend the appropriate Occupational Health and Safety regulations including the code Part 19 titled “Powered Mobile Equipment”
  • Identify all major components of the Front End Loader
  • Inspect all of the equipment components ensuring that they comply with the manufacture’s recommendations
  • Calculate the weight of commonly lifted loads such as crushed rock, wet excavated soil and asphalt
  • Interpret and complete the daily log book
  • Obtain information and interpret correctly from Alberta One Call prior to excavating the ground where utilities may exist
  • Operate the Front End Loader in a safe manner
  • Make certain that the Front End Loader has been maintained and lubed according to manufacturer’s recommendations

Level II - Practical

Upon successful completion of the theory portion (Level I) of the Front End Loader operator program; participants will be evaluated on the manner that they operate their Front End Loader.  The trainee will be evaluated by the instructor using a check list that contains recommendations from the manufacture, through industry best work practices and through Alberta regulations
